Today's headline from an article I read published by The National Telegraph (TNT), written by [Karen Dickson] really caught my attention. "Exclusive: Alberta Government Transferring COVID-Positive Patients into Care Homes."
Frightening. Yes, very frightening. So much so, that after reading that article and spending a bit of time in prayer, I decided to publish it as wide and as far as I could publish it. Limited, as I am, by the modesty of my own little social circle. But nonetheless, trying to do my best to draw attention to this frightening issue.
I added my logline or hook before their article that reads "FROM PREMIER TO AHS OFFICIALS --ANYONE-- INVOLVED WITH THIS NEEDS TO BE CHARGED WITH CRIMES AGAINST THE ELDERLY & OUR MOST VULNERABLE | THESE ACCUSATIONS SHOULD BE REPORTED TO THE RCMP. THIS SHOULD NOT BE IGNORED. WHERE IS MAINSTREAM MEDIA?"
In fact, that article impacted me so much so, that after finishing the redistribution of that, I found myself on the phone reaching out to the RCMP. Nationally, Provincially and Regionally. Taking care to communicate respectfully, but finding very little patience extended towards me for the idea of any subsequent RCMP investigation arising from my inquiry, I am now left with a few questions about this to pose to myself.
What do I do now? The call-center agents, and the investigator who returned my call from the regional headquarters, all were very remiss to suggest they could be involved. The regional agent suggesting in the end that RCMP would be powerless to investigate. And that I should be reaching out to AHS.
Is it just me? Or does it seem foolish to imagine that the perpetrator is going to be of any help in this case? His afterthought? Maybe I could call the [Ombudsman]? So here I am with my questions. Should I call the Ombudsman?
Yes! Yes, I should! You bet I am!! I'll do whatever I can. The horror that creates a painful and burning pit in my stomach when I think about our elderly shut-in with COVID-19 positive room-mates? On purpose? By AHS policy? Even the suggestion of such an accusation needs to be taken seriously. This needs to be examined. Especially in light of New York's recent corruption in the very same crime.
I have already reached out to my UCP member to get that ball rolling. Now I have some time, waiting for him to return my call. I called my UCP CA president to make sure he knows there is an accusation rifting through the social space too. Now I call the Ombudsman. Whatever it takes. The Police need to be made aware, and the reports all need to be looked into.
WHAT IF THIS IS ONLY A TACTIC TO HURT OUR PREMIER?
Yes, that has occurred to me. What if this is just some NDP nutjob trying to stir up the base, and to harm the UCP. Such accusations could further damage the reputation of the party and our leader whose reputation is already taking a massive hit from COVID-19 and shut-downs, and an out-of-control Minister of Health and the CMO.
I have two thoughts on that. One, The NDP should just resign. No-one is going to be fooled into ever voting for them again. If those Albertans fond of saying "I won't be voting for the UCP anymore" think there is a better leader around than Mr. Kenney? Sorry, there is not. Those who are going around saying things like "I don't like how Kenney is handling this, or how his government is handling that" etc. Let me help you out here.
Take just one moment to ask yourself this question, "do you think if NDP and Ms. Notley were in charge of this province right now, during this pandemic, do you think for a single-solitary-second, that things would be better?" It takes a fraction of a moment to do the math. Absolutely - NO - way! NOT-A-CHANCE!
In fact, I'll give you hearty reassurance that things would definitely be so much, MUCH worse. In fact, I'd go so far as to suggest to you, that you would have likely, and I would have, already have some time in by this point as resistance fighters probably fighting in the streets had the NDP and Notley been steering this province during this global catastrophe.
Man, if the NDP ever got their filthy clutches into power in this province, it would be so much worse right now, they would have everything locked down so much tighter, and be so busy entrenching themselves -- since that's what AHS and Unions do -- that we'd be completely destroyed as a province without hope ever again of being rid of them, or well on the way thereto.
And my second thought on that is simply this. If we look into the accusations properly we will get to the bottom of what's going on. If the results are that this is just a rumor? Then those responsible for starting such a horrid egregious lie, would be exposed and we will know exactly who they are, and we will evermore be safe from them going forward.
But if things turn out to be on the mark. If the practice of placing our precious, the vulnerable, elderly who are healthy and well, into rooms with roommates who have tested positive for the virus is true?? ...?? Well. I am not sure at this point it would be very productive to share the thoughts that are coming to my mind about that. Except, we have to figure this out.
Now, to call the Ombudsman. Of course, that's after I've published this primer on the rumor.
First I want to stop and use this forum to call you to stand as well, in defense of our most beloved, and our most vulnerable loved ones, who, because they are in a place that is so vulnerable, need us to keep our eyes open and take up for them.
SUMMING IT UP
And this is where I throw my own two-cents in. Chiefly, Mr. Kenney must NOT be aware of this. Go carefully, take action, but be civil, and don't be too quick to point the blame until we know for sure what is happening. I think Mr. Kenney would be a safe source to call for an investigation into this. Since he's a dyed-in-the-wool-Catholic, I'd find it very difficult to accept that he wouldn't be ready to cause heads to roll if it turns out to be true.
[Like I loglined while republishing TNT's article], I don't care if it's the Premier or the head of health services. I don't care if it's the queen or the mayor. The horrific and negligent acts that would be the placement of our sick in with the healthy and creating any more pain or suffering for our already badly hurting elderly who have been made the recipients of so much already because of this stupid "[pandemic]" is totally unacceptable and needs to be addressed.
end.
